Book-style Chapter Introductions Using Pure CSS

This is a great, simple tutorial explaining how to replicate the book-style chapter introductions of yesteryear — drop-capped first letter, small-capped first line — without having to insert a single class, ID, or span into your XHTML. If your code is well-formed, you could just add this CSS to your style sheet and be done.
