Posh CSS

Four months of daily posting and plenty more to come!

I have been posting CSS related articles, tips and tutorials daily here at Posh CSS for four months now and there are 130 links to fantastic resources from all over the internet.

The RSS feed subscriber count is just shy of 1,000 readers (980 currently), and has had over 77,000 views in the past couple of months alone. Thanks to everyone for their support, kind words and links to Posh CSS.

Daily posting is here to stay as long as you keep submitting links to your articles or to pieces of CSS related content that you have found to be useful. I do have a couple of questions for you to see if we can help make the site easier for everyone, please leave a comment below.

  1. Should the RSS Feed link directly to the article instead of the Posh CSS permalink?
  2. Do you prefer the excerpt from the link or a personally written recommendation by the submitter?
  3. Is there anything else that you would add or change at Posh CSS?

As always, be sure to submit your articles and content you find to the site. Thanks again everyone for your support.

  1. Hi, excellent resource, I’ve enjoyed many of the posted links so far and look forward to many more in the future.

My thoughts on the 3 points are:

    1. A direct link would be my preference, one less click as I’ve already read the excerpt on the RSS feed.
    2. The excerpt is fine.
    3. The resource is fantastic, no need to change.

Thanks for your time and effort.

  2. A direct link would be good but not necessary, other than that leave it as is.

  3. 1. A direct link would be nice, saves a click.
    2. If you’ve got something to say about, or add to, the linked article, a personal recommendation might be nice.
    3. Keep up the good work, no major changes necessary IMHO!

  4. Direct link to the site in question is a good start. Also, a short blurb from the submitter, if worthy, could be added. Just makes the posts feel more personal, than syndicated. Other than that, keep it up, its awesome!

  5. hey, excellent resource, keep up the good work!

    1. as a blogger myself, a direct link of course, but keep in mind your own benefits as well
    2. excerpt is good enough
    3. the color coding isn’t clear, you’d be better off adding the category in front of the title

    Cheers!

  6. 1. A direct link in addition to the usual link to the post on Posh CSS would be very nice to have.

    2. Display submitter recommendation (if available), else display link excerpt.

    3. The only negligible gripe I have is that the Archives section could use a little nicer formatting (at the very least, a line break between items). Other than that, I love the look and simplicity of the site.

Thank you for a superb resource.

  7. 1. Both please.
    2. Both?
    3. Tough call, it’s great as is. Perhaps more ways to browse archives, alternate views…

  8. To echo the thoughts of those above:
    1. Yes, a direct link would be great.
    2. Excerpt is just fine since it saves you time. If you want to write, feel free though!
    3. Great resource, but maybe more books? Reviews and such. Either done by you or pulled in from other sites.

  9. I would love a direct link to the article. I very much like the short abstracts you’re doing now; adding a quick excerpt would be fine, but not necessary to my mind. And I’m enjoying the resources you link to pretty much as-is. Keep up the good work!

  10. Thank you so much for this resource! Everything is awesome, except the feed links – they should definitely go directly to the article.

  11. 1. Direct link would be best.
    2. I like personal comments better, but either way.

  12. 1. Direct link please.
    2. Excerpt from link is cool.
    3. You can add comments to the link page.

  13. 1. Fewer clicks is always better for me, so I would prefer a direct link.
    2. I think both commentary and excerpts are acceptable, though I’d like to see the excerpts appropriately identified (maybe in a blockquote to boot.)
    3. Book (and software) reviews would be a cool feature. I know other people are doing it, but more sources would be helpful. It would also give you another way to flex your amazon affiliate account.

  14. Hey everyone, thanks for the comments.

@all I gathered a direct link would be a good idea, working on implementing that now.

@sn Agreed, the archives need an overhaul.

    @wes & @Scott Nelle More books/reviews. Gotcha.

  15. I must be in the minority here, because I would actually prefer the links go to PoshCSS first. People are neglecting a great opportunity to browse user comments before going to the article itself. I sometimes read the articles, then come back here to comment so future readers get a second opinion as to how useful the article was. If more people took advantage of this, a link to PoshCSS would be extremely useful!

Also, I’d prefer abstracts to excerpts if offered by the submitter, but they aren’t always critical. If I’m truly concerned, I should learn to write more excerpt-able copy. :)
